The Houthis have been the dominant force in Yemen for months
Yemen's Shia Houthi rebel movement has announced it is taking over the government and dissolving parliament.
In a televised statement, the group said a five-member council would act as the president for an interim period.
The group took control of the capital Sanaa in September, forcing the resignation of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi in January.
The announcement comes after the failure of UN-brokered peace talks.
The Houthis set a Wednesday deadline for political parties to reach an agreement on ending the country's political turmoil, threatening to act unilaterally otherwise.
The rebels move would mark "a new era that will take Yemen to safe shores'', the statement said,

Despite the increased boat mishaps that occurred in the country last year, no fewer than two million people now commute through the waterways in Lagos on a monthly basis.
Data sourced from the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), put the figure at 1.902,631 as at the month of December 2014.
Although, there was a fluctuation in the figure during the year, the number increased in the month of December..
The increase in the patronage of the use of waterways for transportation in Lagos has been attributed to the improved regulation governing the use of the waterway.

That's how it's done! Indonesian women troll cleric who ‘banned’ selfies

Lol. Some Indonesian women decided to troll & mock a well known Indonesian cleric after he issued a ban on women taking selfies in the country. Below is a report from Alaribeya.net

Never ask a woman not to take a selfie, especially if she is Indonesian it seems. Many Indonesian women declared a social media war on Felix Siauw, a renowned cleric who issued a fatwa claiming that taking self portraits was a sin. The women’s response? Launching the hashtag campaign #Selfie4Siauw. Continue...
I a tweet stream, the cleric issued a 17-point manifesto in which he outlined the reasons for condemning selfies, according to the website  Coconuts Jakarta.

“If we take a selfie, sift through and choose our best pose, and then we’re awed and impressed by ourselves - worryingly, that’s called PRIDE. These days many Muslim women take selfies without shame. There are usually nine frames in one photo with facial poses that are just - My Goodness - where’s the purity in women?,” Siauw wrote.
The 30-year-old cleric has over a million followers on Twitter.

photos: Spain rally: Podemos holds Madrid mass 'March for Change'

Rally at Madrid's Plaza de Sol - 31 January

Tens of thousands of people have massed in central Madrid for a rally organised by radical Spanish leftists Podemos.
The "March for Change" is one of the party's first outdoor mass rallies, as it looks to build on the recent victory of its close allies Syriza in Greece.
Podemos has surged into the lead in recent opinion polls, and says it will seek to write off part of Spain's debt if it wins elections later this year.
Podemos says politicians should "serve the people, not private interests".
The BBC's Tom Burridge in Madrid says that there has been an impressive turnout and a carnival atmosphere at the rally.

Presidential Debate: Nigerians urge Buhari to participate

Jonathan-Buhari
Nigerians are urging the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC and a former Head of State , Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to participate in a debate with other presidential candidates in the 2015 elections, so that the electorates can vote wisely. Reacting to the decline of the APC and its presidential candidate to participate in the debate organized by the Nigeria Election Debate Group, NEDG, Nigerians took to their Twitter pages to express frustration and urged Gen. Buhari to reconsider the stance of his party. Using the hashtag, #BuhariMustDebate, they argued that a debate will offer the electorates the opportunity to listen to the programmes of the candidates, thus, making it easier for them (electorates) to vote for the best candidate, especially now that the leading political parties are engaged in mudslinging.
